Broadview trustees approve routine expenditures list; trustee objects to late packet timing

The Village of Broadview Board of Trustees approved a batch of vendor payments and other expenditures presented for the period ending April 1, 2025. Trustees recorded four yes votes, one abstention and one absence on the roll call.

Staff read a list of invoices and payments that included a $168,219.12 entry to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois, $35,275.50 to Genos's Heating and Plumbing, and other routine vendor charges. The clerk also listed two manual checks of $265,279.56 and $2,831.69; staff reported electronic credit-card payments as well. The transcript’s stated grand total for all funds was not clearly legible in the record.

Trustee Miller, who arrived after roll call, said he likely would abstain on votes because he had received the board packet late. "I probably won't be voting on anything tonight due to the timeliness or untimeliness of receiving our board packets," Miller said, adding that receiving legislative materials on short notice was not fair.

The motion to approve the expenditures was moved and seconded and carried on a roll-call vote with the abstention noted. No additional discussion or requests to hold specific invoices were recorded.

The board did not change spending authorizations in the meeting; trustees approved the list as presented and moved on to other agenda items.
