Superintendent reports midyear academic progress and next steps on MeteView Middle consolidation

In the instructional update, Dr. Reeves cited Read to Achieve pathway data, reporting that 46.55% of third graders have met a pathway; of those students, the district reported 93% as proficient and 7% qualifying for a good‑cause exemption. He said schools are tracking check‑ins, teachers are using backward planning to protect instructional time and the district currently exceeds the minimum instructional hours for the year. Teacher working condition surveys will be open through March 31.
On facilities, Dr. Reeves said the district issued an RFQ for the MeteView Middle consolidation and received three architect proposals. The board will select an architect later this month; consolidation subcommittees have met except for the athletics subcommittee, which still needs to convene. He said the architect selection is the first formal step toward renovation decisions and combined‑school planning.
Dr. Reeves also noted the Educational Foundation is developing streamlined processes for distributing transportation funds for in‑county field trips and that the foundation has contributed roughly $61,000 to date this year.
No formal vote was taken on the consolidation or academic targets during the update; Dr. Reeves said he will return with monthly progress reports and next steps.
