San Cayetano students showcase SOAR behavior program; counselor and custodian recognized

Principal Dina Ticas presented an update on San Cayetano Elementary, highlighting programs and student supports and introducing several students who described campus initiatives.
Student Riley Ann praised school counselor Lorena Sebastian as a "pillar of encouragement" who is "supportive, friendly, hardworking, and dedicated." Another student, Leon, described the custodian ("Mister George") as "like a superhero in disguise," noting he helps keep the school running and safe.
Ticas reported enrollment of 463 students at San Cayetano, including 130 English learners, 105 students with disabilities (on IEPs), and about 250 students who are socioeconomically disadvantaged. She said the school has six extensive-needs classrooms with a total of 46 students, a newly completed sensory room and regular data chats to guide intervention placement.
Students also described the school's SOAR behavior expectations (Safe, On task, Attentive to others, Responsible) and a mobile student store that allows students to redeem tickets earned for positive behavior.
Trustees commended the students and staff for their presentations and recognized school staff with board certificates.
