Mapleton council approves consent agenda, continues code‑amendment hearing and schedules plan return in April

Mapleton City Council moved from a transportation work session into its regular meeting, unanimously approving the consent agenda while pulling item 8 (rules of order) for further edits and continuing a public hearing on proposed amendments to Mapleton City Code Titles 1 and 2.

Jean (city staff) outlined that many code sections are outdated and that staff recommended addressing clerical and substantive edits and returning with a clean draft. No members of the public spoke during the opened public hearing, and the council voted to continue the item to allow for additional analysis and clean drafting.

The council also heard administrative reports: staff notified the planning commission will review a rezoning/TDR request for property south of Turple Crown (related to Mapleton Village/Twin Hollow), parks and recreation and public‑works items were summarized (bike‑park bidding and a grant application), and public‑safety staff described coordination on traffic calming studies and a pending state bill affecting electric mopeds and scooters.

Procedural outcome: motions to close the work session and later to adjourn the council meeting passed by unanimous voice votes. Staff will return code amendments and master‑plan materials (including mitigation costs and turning‑movement analysis) for council consideration in April.
