The Mount Clemens City Commission approved a three-year amendment with Hunch Free to provide digital communications support including commission meeting coverage, website support and text alerts.
The agreement continues services Hunch Free already provides to the city and will run at $3,650 per month in year one, with a 4% increase in year two and a 5% increase in year three for the social media portion; meeting coverage, website and text alerts are budgeted at $2,125 per month with similar escalators. Administration noted the city is transitioning from traditional cable PEG coverage and that running those services on the previous PEG channel had cost the city about $75,000 per year.
Commissioners asked whether meetings would be available on cable; staff said meetings will be uploaded to YouTube and streamed via Zoom, and city staff are still working on arrangements to provide content to local PEG channels. The agreement includes a termination-for-convenience clause allowing the city to end the contract by written notice.
The motion to approve the amendment carried on voice vote. Staff said they are scheduling social media and content plans and are preparing a two-month posting schedule.
