Perry County officials approve WTH contract to correct 1,500 Eagle View parcel errors

Perry County officials agreed at a public meeting to hire vendor WTH to correct errors in the county's Eagle View parcel dataset after staff reported about 1,500 properties with incorrect parcel numbers and several parcels with misidentified boundaries or owners.

The correction work will require taking the dataset offline for about 30 days, WTH quoted $6,500 to perform the fixes, and officials said they would pay the cost from remaining seed money in the county budget. Commissioner said, "we'll just pay for it out of our leftover seed money" when describing how the corrections would be funded.

The county discussed the need to align aerial overview data with parcel records ahead of an upcoming overview flight so that parcels and owners match the county's records. The commissioner who presented the item emphasized the volume of discrepancies: "we had about 1,500 properties that needed to have numbers changed or modified," and noted that some parcels also lacked correct boundary or owner identification.

A motion to add the contract-signing item to the agenda and to proceed with the WTH corrections was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Meeting minutes indicate officials will authorize the vendor to begin work and fund the $6,500 from the remaining seed allocation; the payment and final contract execution are to follow standard procurement checks.

The measure was presented as a targeted data-correction project rather than a larger systems procurement. Officials said the work is intended to ensure that the Eagle View aerial overview, once flown and processed, will correctly match the county's parcel map and ownership records.
