Oconee County lists multi-year road projects, warns of long state timelines

He said county crews paved 32 miles and restriped 17 miles last year and urged voters to renew the county's transportation local-option tax on the November ballot to sustain the work. On state projects, Daniel described SR 316 improvements currently shown in GDOT schedules for 2028 and said widening of US 441 from the Morgan County line toward Bishop is planned but likely to be delayed. He highlighted a D Mill Drive full interchange that the county reported was awarded earlier this year (project value described in the address) and said construction should begin in the coming weeks.
Daniel also announced a public information open house on the Watkinsville bypass project (route alternatives to be displayed) and encouraged residents to attend and provide input. He emphasized that many state-led projects have multi-year timetables and that county staff continue to seek funding and design readiness for additional improvements.
The address included numerous county-specific projects in design or concept phases and noted the lack of guaranteed funding for some state-route projects.
