District staff present LCAP local indicators; some measures at 'initial implementation'

District Educational Services staff presented the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) local indicators for 2023–24 and explained how the data will be used to monitor priorities aligned to the state's priority areas.
A presenter said the local indicators "are part of our reporting for our local control accountability plan" and will be reported on the California School Dashboard in the fall. Staff reported that basic conditions (textbooks and facility good-repair standards) met expectations and that many implementation areas were rated at full implementation; however, staff said some elements are at "initial implementation," notably changes to the professional-learning model and family-strengths and culture measures under parent and family engagement.
Staff also noted results from the California Healthy Kids Survey on school connectedness and perceived safety, and highlighted career and technical education offerings, dual-enrollment and Advanced Placement courses as evidence of access to a broad course of study.
Board members asked follow-up questions about declining school climate scores from fifth to ninth grade and requested more information on how the district can support students and improve those outcomes.
Staff said the indicators will be part of the LCAP submitted to the California School Dashboard in October.
