He emphasized the R‑SOC supplements the state‑provided solution by offering constant monitoring and a management console for configuration.
Board members questioned how monitoring works and whether human reviewers can remotely shut down machines. Danny said Angelo State employs students and staff who monitor alerts and can remotely isolate or shut down a compromised device; he and others clarified the capability applies to district PCs and lab machines, not Chromebooks sent home.
Trustees also approved two competitive bids under the federal E‑Rate discount program, which covers 60% of eligible project costs. Advanced Networks of Texas won the wireless cabling contract (district share roughly $28,000 after discount) and Master E Networks won the fiber‑optics contract for the CHS turf room (district share reported in presentations). The presentation explained bid scoring included price and vendor history working with the district.
All motions passed unanimously. The board authorized the superintendent’s designee to execute the Angelo State interlocal and approved the E‑Rate contracts to proceed to installation next year.
The district will not incur new subscription fees for the R‑SOC while the state funds the core service, though ongoing costs after the state program depend on future legislative action, the presenters said.
