Parish approves multiple coastal, infrastructure and contracting actions; executive session yields authority for litigation documents

The jury also approved a project to remove legacy oil-and-gas infrastructure and implement targeted sediment remediation to improve site safety and water quality.
The jury accepted as substantially complete the North Cameron Emergency Operations Center, noting a punch list and a 45-day claim period during which contractors may file liens before final closeout and transfer of facility ownership to the parish.
On contracts and budgets, the jury approved a contract amendment increasing engineering compensation by $272,744 for the Mermentau Basin inundation relief project, authorized $27,380.13 in funding for LSU extension programs for 2026, and approved annual dues of $9,600 to the Police Jury Association of Louisiana. The jury also approved public-notice advertisement for gravity-drainage district boundaries and a November 3, 2026 election to renew a property tax (6.21 mills) for Gravity Drainage District No. 5.
Following an executive session on construction and coastal litigation, the jury voted to grant the parish administrator authority to sign documents related to the cited construction case (as presented in executive session). The motion was made publicly on the record after the closed session.
Next steps: staff will administer the project closeout period for the emergency operations center, implement contract-amendment funding, and follow up on the litigation-authority tasks assigned to the parish administrator.
