Mr. Reeves presented Resolution 260226 to authorize purchase of a 2027 Western Star chassis from Trans West on a state bid and equipment upfitting from Tomaster (reported in the agenda) in the amount of $328,938 to replace asset #916, a 2011 Freightliner.
Staff said the chassis order would be placed under state contract, with an anticipated chassis delivery in November and completed vehicle delivery (including upfitting such as snow‑and‑ice control equipment, dump body and emergency lighting) expected in mid‑2027 depending on supply‑chain variables. Mr. Reeves said ordering now could avoid future tariff increases and secure a place in the upfitting queue.
Member Joerger moved a friendly amendment to the resolution to reflect funding split: $175,000 from the sewer fund as an interfund loan and $175,000 from the CIP (capital improvement plan). The amendment was seconded and the amended resolution passed.
The motion authorized procurement under the state contract and directed staff to finalize funding and future invoicing steps when the city takes possession of the vehicle.
