The Carrolton Village Council voted 5-0 on Jan. 28 to stop adding fluoride to the village water supply following a presentation from the Water Department.
Justin Lucas, identified in the minutes as representing the Water Department, told council members that fluoride "doesn't really benefit anyone except for the children" and argued that discontinuing the treatment would reduce annual costs for the village. Councilmember Tangler moved to cease fluoridation; Butterfield seconded. The motion passed on a roll-call vote with Barto, Butterfield, Locke, Tangler and Parker voting yes.
Council records do not specify an implementation date, notice process, or whether the change will require additional public notification or regulatory filings. The minutes show no public comment opposing or supporting the measure at the meeting.
The council carried the motion unanimously; no further steps were recorded in the minutes.
