El Paso County commissioners on May 11 approved a revision renaming and removing 'pilot' status from the county’s paid-internship policy, adopting the "Carl Malaney Paid Internship Program" name to honor the late employee. Human Resources representatives briefed the court on program history and outcomes: 40 interns onboarded since inception and a 15% conversion rate from intern to full-time county employment.
