Solanco SD board approves bids, software subscription and routine reports; honors students

For the high school restroom renovation, the board approved recommended prime bids: URG Construction (general prime) at $419,300; Gua Mechanical (mechanical) at $49,500; Garden Spout Mechanical (plumbing) at $158,750; and DNT Electric (electrical) at $145,135. The combined prime bids were presented as $772,685; contractors must complete the work by the second week of August.
Software and facilities: The board approved a 12-month subscription to the recommended work-order/facility scheduling software (presented as a $8,532.80 purchase, including $1,440 implementation costs) to replace an unsupported system and improve facility scheduling and work-order management.
Routine governance: By voice votes the board approved general fund, capital project fund, cafeteria fund, student activity and athletic reports for March, and a short personnel report that included two extracurricular appointments. The board also approved second and final readings of policy 105.2 (exemption from instruction) and policy 824 (professional student boundaries).
Executive session: The board moved into executive session for an annual safety and security presentation from district staff and indicated no votes would follow the session.
