At its July 2 special meeting the Historic Lancaster Commission received an update from Code Enforcement about 154 E. Main St., where exterior maintenance and potential structural concerns were discussed.
Commission chair Bryan Everitt said he had spoken with Erica from Code Enforcement about the property. Jim Lehman of Code Enforcement told the commission the city's mowing contractor is currently maintaining the property and that the siding requires attention. Lehman characterized visible cracks in the brick as "mainly cosmetic" but said he would review the building’s stairwell further and that the building department might need to conduct an inspection.
Lehman also said Code Enforcement would attempt to contact the homeowner about the exterior concerns and that notices would be posted after the meeting. The commission and staff noted they have limited authority over interior issues and would rely on building department inspections if structural problems are suspected.
The commission listed this matter under old business and expects updates after Code Enforcement follows up and posts notices.
