The committee considered a resolution to improve access to overnight parking permits by bringing permitting assistance and kiosks to municipal court and other public locations.
Elizabeth, a municipal court official, described existing support for constituents who need help with online processes and recommended using kiosks and language lines at the court so residents can address parking-ticket and permit issues in one visit. "We do sit with constituents from all walks of life who need whatever services or accessibility provided," Elizabeth said.
DPW staff said the permitting portal is online and can be bookmarked on court kiosks; completed applications would route to DPW clerks as usual. Councilors suggested one-stop shops and asked DPW and court staff to coordinate with IT so kiosks route permit submissions correctly and produce staff-side work orders.
Outcome: staff agreed to explore the implementation details, including use of existing kiosks at the court and language access tools; the committee did not adopt permanent changes at the meeting but directed staff to follow up.
