Commission tables Courthouse Annex elevator modernization after $237,260 bid

Assistant County Administrator Cindy M. Hughes opened and reviewed bids for the Courthouse Annex Elevator Modernization Project at 9:15 a.m. on May 7. Hughes said the Request for Bids had been published twice and that a pre-bid meeting had included four vendors. Funding from the Courthouse Facilities Improvement Authority was listed as $100,000; a preliminary in-house estimate was $141,769. One bid was received from Dan Hill Construction Company for $237,260.00 and all paperwork was submitted properly.
Commission President Kristie G. Tenney asked staff to contact the bidder and the granting authority to determine whether the project could be completed in phases to reduce immediate costs. On a motion by Sam Nolte, seconded by Doug Bush, the Commission approved tabling the item until staff could consult with Dan Hill Construction Company and the Courthouse Facilities Improvement Authority.
The Commission did not award the contract at the meeting. Staff were directed to pursue options with the bidder and the grantor and to return the item to a future agenda for further consideration.
