The Nelson County Board adopted Resolution R-2026-39 approving an 80/20 truck-order request for Wintergreen Fire Rescue. The department and its representative described a competitive-bid process and recommended the lowest responsive bidder, a company the department used previously on a 2006 ladder-truck purchase.
The board heard that the engine would not be delivered until July or August of next year and that the vendor's quoted price is effectively locked at present (the vendor would have offered a discount for upfront cash payment, which the department cannot provide). Board members asked about price escalation risk and were told the contract structure makes such fluctuations unlikely; if cost increases exceed the department's budget, the county could adjust the 80/20 funding share.
A supervisor moved adoption of the resolution and the board approved it by voice vote.
What's next: County staff will complete contract paperwork and route the purchase for execution in line with capital-procurement procedures.
