Fairview city planner announces resignation; associate planner introduced

City planner Mister Greer told the Fairview Planning Commission on May 12 that he has tendered his resignation; his last day with the city will be May 22, 2026. He said he has accepted a position with the state and encouraged qualified applicants to apply for the posted city planner opening.
Greer used his report to introduce associate planner Nick Meek, who he said began with the department in April and will take on increased responsibilities during the transition. Greer outlined ongoing work for the planning department, including updates to subdivision regulations to align with the recently adopted development code, revisions to the 2040 plan language, and implementation of a GovWell citizen-portal module for submitting stormwater, code and public-works concerns.
Commissioners thanked Greer for his service and welcomed Nick Meek. Commissioners and staff discussed interim coverage: consultants Mr. Chastain and Mr. Broadbent (Kirksey Maloney) will continue to support staff until a new planner is hired and the interim city manager establishes a plan for staffing. Greer said he had discussed increased involvement by Kevin Chastain over the coming weeks.
The chair and several commissioners offered farewell remarks and encouraged public interest in the job posting on the city website.
