Council accepts updated law-enforcement agreement with Cache County

The Millville City Council accepted an updated law-enforcement agreement with Cache County on April 9, 2026, approving Resolution 2026-2.
Sheriff Chad Jensen attended the meeting and described how contract patrol hours and pay rates are structured and said the draft contract being considered included modest increases to better reflect actual hours and to retain staff; the draft would increase Millville's cost by about $3,000 per year for the next three years, Sheriff Jensen said. Recorder Corey Twedt raised communication concerns and the sheriff asked city representatives to call him directly when prompt coordination is needed.
Councilmember Jacob Ames reviewed the resolution and moved to accept Resolution 2026-2. Councilmember Darcy Ripplinger seconded; Councilmembers Ames, Ward, June, Ripplinger and Zollinger voted yes.
The agreement updates contract terms between Cache County and Millville for patrol and other law-enforcement support; city staff said a copy of the adopted resolution is included as Attachment D in the meeting packet.
Next steps: The city will finalize routing for the executed agreement and monitor any budget impacts in upcoming budget updates.
