The Anchorage Public Naming Commission voted to hold a public hearing June 10 on a request to name the planned downtown branch the "Anchorage Original Townsite Downtown Library," a project funded by a state grant and a donor bequest meant to underwrite roughly 12 years of operations.

The Anchorage Public Naming Commission voted to hold a public hearing on June 10 for a proposal to name the planned downtown branch the "Anchorage Original Townsite Downtown Library." Elizabeth Nikolai, assistant director of the Anchorage Public Library, told the commission the project is funded by a state grant and a bequest from "Miss Janet" that the library says will support about 12 years of operations.
