DRB approves Publix repaint plan with targeted accent panel condition

The Publix representative introduced physical paint samples and said the goal was to "enhance the visual appeal of the shopping center" and better unify the center with other downtown streetscape treatments. Staff and board members reviewed the full palette, which the applicant presented with color names and samples: Toasted Almond (body color), Winter Feather (metal awnings), Off White, Pegasus (trim), Onyx (accents) and Stepping Stone (standing-seam roof).
Board members focused on the My Salon Suite façade and a trellis at the opposite end of the building. The approved motion requires the applicant to apply color 3 (off-white) to three horizontal panels just above the My Salon Suite sign and to use the same contrasting placement at the trellis side where a darker accent exists now. A friendly amendment accepted during the motion extended the accent to cover two stacked panels (rather than one) on the My Salon Suite elevation to improve proportional balance; the amended motion passed 5–1.
The board also suggested staff offer lease-language guidance to encourage tenant-facing sign panels to be refreshed to match the new background colors. Staff will confirm the final paint codes and updated mock-ups prior to permit or paint activity.
Vote and next steps: motion carried with a 5–1 vote; staff will verify the final paint callouts and implementation plan before painting begins.
