Mr. Laffier, the presenter for the update, said the training center structure is "essentially complete," rainwater leaders are about 80% installed, and work is ongoing on framing, stucco and mechanical, electrical and plumbing in the concession/museum building. He noted scaffolding has been installed for stucco work and that some cameras and drone overhead shots shown to the board were taken within the past week.
Board questions focused on mechanical placement and security: a board member asked whether air handlers had been moved to the roof; Laffier said the units remain in their prior locations and that the district generally avoids roof‑mounted air conditioners because of leaking issues. Another trustee raised concerns about museum access and public safety during baseball games; Laffier said he had no specific operational plan yet for museum access but the district would work to ensure safety and to secure exhibits.
Contract and policy notes: Laffier reported that change order number 3 (reconciling owner direct purchases) was approved on the consent agenda and that change order number 2 was a no‑cost timeline update previously approved by the superintendent on March 12. He cited "board policy 63 45" as authorizing the superintendent to approve change orders up to $25,000 with a requirement to report back to the board.
What happens next: Staff expect to begin storm‑drain installation within days and will return with any further change orders or issues that require board action.
