Burnet County commissioners on Dec. 23 unanimously approved a slate of appointments to local Emergency Services District boards and created two new ESDs.
On a motion by Commissioner Damon Beierle, seconded by Commissioner Jim Luther Jr., the court approved appointments and reappointments to ESD Nos. 3, 4, 7 and 8, with terms generally expiring Dec. 31, 2027, and one unexpired term through Dec. 31, 2026. The motion passed 5-0.
The court also created Burnet County ESD No. 10 and appointed James Shamard, Ned Ewart, Barker Keith III and Opal Campbell as the original directors for terms ending Dec. 31, 2025; that action passed unanimously. Separately, the court created ESD No. 11 and appointed Pete Fussler, Kenny Schell and Gene Broadway as the original board; the minutes note a correction to the spelling of two names during the motion. That vote was also 5-0.
The appointments were presented as individual agenda items and carried by voice vote; no public comment or further debate was recorded in the minutes. The commissioners did not attach additional implementation steps beyond recording the appointments and term expirations.
