District leaders outline summer construction schedule, safety measures and referendum work

The presentation covered a range of projects: a new CTE wing at the high school, sprinkler-system installations, ceiling tile and flooring work, a pool air-handler replacement, façade and locker-room work at Bronco Arena and related stadium upgrades. Administrators said some work will require major daytime and evening access to school spaces and large construction vehicles on site. "There is a lot of mess district wide," the administrator said, describing the scale of work and the need to close areas temporarily.
The board approved a districtwide summer closure to the general public for Falls Elementary and Falls High School from June 2 through Aug. 2, with exceptions for scheduled community-education events and supervised practices. The administrator said that closing buildings (while keeping supervised events open by prior arrangement) will reduce wandering visitors and improve safety for students, staff and contractors. Facilities staff will issue entry procedures and coordinate keys and supervised access.
Administrators flagged specific operational items for the summer: moving classrooms to accommodate flooring installation, installation of a dust collector for the CTE wing, elevator work at Falls Elementary, and pool and arena upgrades that require temporary shutdowns. The board was told that contractors are working evenings to reduce daytime disruption but that the district must still manage noise, restricted access and security during heavy construction.
What happens next: Facilities staff will prepare public-access procedures and key controls before the June 2 start date; the board's motion authorized the closure and directed staff to coordinate supervised event access and contractor scheduling.
