Lucy Lee updated the Hamilton County Commissioners Court on services and construction for the Hamilton Community Center.
Lee said the center delivers meals five days a week to roughly 85 elderly or homebound residents and has a network of 25 dedicated volunteer drivers. The center also serves about 15–30 dine-in meals each weekday. She said volunteers donate roughly 12 community meals per month and the remaining meals are purchased and prepared by members of the center.
On facilities, Lee reported final engineering for the new community center—covering foundation, structural, mechanical, electrical and plumbing—was nearing completion, site engineering is complete, and the county is targeting an early–mid May meeting with the city to advance permitting. The planned facility will be approximately 7,000 square feet and include multiple meeting rooms and a half-court multipurpose gym.
The court heard the update as part of its open comments; no funding vote specific to the center was taken at this meeting.
