County approves multiple contracts, vehicle purchase and consulting engagements

The Kossuth County Board of Supervisors approved a set of procurement and contracting actions on May 12 that included emergency services coverage, a patrol vehicle purchase, interlocal law-enforcement contracts, consulting services and municipal utility work authorization.

Supervisor Kyle Stecker moved and Supervisor Amber Garman seconded approval of a Kossuth County Emergency Medical Services Event Standby Services Agreement for future use; the motion carried unanimously. The board also approved purchasing and upfitting a 2026 Chevy Silverado patrol vehicle from Karl Chevrolet for $43,867.80, with the recorded caveat that the final amount may change depending on trade-in value; Supervisor Howard Haas moved and Supervisor Kyle Stecker seconded that measure and it passed unanimously.

Supervisor Josh Waechter moved and Supervisor Amber Garman seconded approval of law-enforcement contracts for 10 county cities at $2,000 per community; the motion passed unanimously. The board approved a three-year contract with Cost Advisory Services, Inc. for fiscal years 2025–26 through 2027–28 (motion by Amber Garman, second by Howard Haas) and signed an engagement letter with Northland Securities related to Buffalo Township urban-renewal financing options (motion by Kyle Stecker, second by Amber Garman); both motions carried unanimously.

Separately, the board authorized Algona Municipal Utilities to relocate overhead electric to underground lines and remove two power poles on River Road under Permit 05-10-2026; Supervisor Amber Garman moved and Supervisor Josh Waechter seconded the authorization, which carried unanimously. The meeting minutes do not include contract amounts for the EMS agreement, the Cost Advisory contract, or the Northland engagement letter, nor do they list vendors or contractors for the utility work beyond Algona Municipal Utilities.
