Supervisor Talsma moved to enter closed session and Supervisor Cupples seconded the motion. The board cited Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(i) — allowing evaluation of professional competency at the request of the individual — and Iowa Code Section 21.5(1)(a) — permitting review of records that are confidential by law — as the legal basis for closing the meeting. The motion passed by roll call with votes recorded as YEA: Cupples, Nearmyer, Talsma.
Supervisor Cupples left the meeting at 1:56 p.m. while the special session was in progress.
