Jasper County approves multiple contracts, hires telecommunicator and awards pavement work

The Jasper County Board of Supervisors approved a series of procurement actions and a hiring certification at its May 12 meeting.
Maintenance Director Adam Sparks presented three quotes for new I.T. room furniture for the FY2026–2027 budget; the board approved All Makes’ bid for $15,701.19. The board also approved a Professional Service Agreement with BBS Architects Engineers for $15,800 to remodel the county jail evidence room and booking counter.
The board approved a three-year professional services contract with Cost Advisory Services, Inc. at $6,580 per year. For county infrastructure work, the board approved an estimated $16,500 agreement with Hutchison Engineering, Inc. for final structural design of Bridge R20 (W. 24th St. S. over Buck Creek). The county awarded the contract to supply and haul Class E revetment for Bridge M03 to Bruening Rock Products for $28,002, and approved a countywide pavement-marking contract with KAM Line Highway Markings for $142,919.39.
The board adopted a hiring resolution certifying the appointment of Olivia Worley to a full-time telecommunicator position in the Sheriff’s Office at a hire-in rate of $23.10, effective May 18, 2026.
All procurement and hiring motions were passed by unanimous roll call vote (Nearmyer, Talsma, Cupples).
What’s next: contracts will proceed to implementation by the responsible county departments; the hiring resolution is on file in the Auditor’s Office.
