Zoning committee approves several accessory-structure conditional-use permits
Summary
The committee approved conditional-use permits for several accessory-structure requests (CUP 26-012, 26-013, 26-014) and Rezone 26-009, typically with conditions requiring no habitation, deed restrictions where appropriate, and compliance with town and state rules.

At its May 15 meeting the Sawyer County Zoning Committee approved a series of routine conditional-use permits and one small rezone permitting a lot addition:
- CUP 26-012 (Dennis and Evelyn Meyer): Approved for a 14-by-24-foot accessory structure divided by Buckley Drive; applicant Dennis Myers said the building is portable cold storage and the committee approved with conditions including no habitable or commercial use.
- CUP 26-013 (Paul Manka): Approved a 12-by-56-foot lean-to addition to an existing accessory structure across a town road; applicant described the addition as cold storage with no utilities and the committee approved with the staff’ s recommended conditions.
- CUP 26-014 (Mark Welsh): Approved a 36-by-56-foot accessory structure across Town Road with conditions including a deed-restriction/lot-binding agreement to keep the accessory structure tied to the principal lot (the applicants’ counsel confirmed the properties are titled to the same trust). The committee limited height to 22 feet or less and required a land-use permit prior to construction.
- Rezone 26-009 (Town of Bass Lake / Hazel Magnuson): Approved a 0.44-acre rezone from Agricultural 1 to RR1 to allow Tweed agents to attach the sliver and build a detached accessory structure; staff reported no objections from the Lac Courte Oreilles tribe and the town recommended approval.
Each approval included the typical findings of fact (promote public health and safety and encourage orderly land use) and conditions limiting habitation, commercial activity, and requiring compliance with town and county permits.
