Union County lists multi-million-dollar vendor contracts and construction items

Notable items included authorization to enter into a contract with Xerox Corporation under State Contract No. 40469 to provide equipment leasing and labor services for the Union County Print Shop from April 1, 2026 through March 31, 2031, in an amount not to exceed $2,008,000. The board also listed a Change Order #1 for the Ashbrook Restoration Project in Scotch Plains that adds $282,709.35 for a new contract amount not to exceed $1,164,449.35; Policay said excavation and stone removal work were underway in line with permitting limits. Commissioners discussed the Martine Avenue Bridge item; Policay said construction had not yet begun and that the work would replace double concrete plates with a box culvert, and the item requests a time extension to meet NJDOT requirements.
Other contract items placed on the agenda include Colliers Engineering & Design contract increases for a courthouse boiler replacement (Phase II +$720,110 and Phase III +$13,264, new amount not to exceed $832,993), award of a plumbing-services contract to Rak Plumbing & Heating LLC (not to exceed $151,809.50), and a locksmith services contract to J1 Door Company Inc. (not to exceed $241,000). The agenda also lists authorization for a county-wide aerial mosquito-dispensing operation by the Division of Public Works, Bureau of Mosquito Control. County Manager Edward T. Oatman advised the Ashbrook work is part of a long-term project and that the county continues to seek DEP approvals to expand dredging where permitted.
