The Nance County Board of Supervisors voted May 12 to accept a 3% increase to the county’s Veteran’s Service contract for the 2026–2027 year, raising the contract amount from $20,945 to $21,575.
Don Shuda of Veteran’s Service told the board that VA benefits brought $1,650,381 into the county in 2024 and reminded supervisors of the vehicle tax exemption available to veterans. After discussion, Robert Voichoskie moved to accept the 3% increase and Darren Nelson seconded the motion; the board approved the increase.
The increase was framed during routine budget and contract review; the board did not appoint new members to the Veteran’s Service Committee at this meeting and noted they are working to identify a replacement member.
