Staff said postcards were mailed to D300 residences to encourage participation and that the final community-engagement report will be presented to the board on May 19.
Officials emphasized three planning priorities introduced earlier in the process: accommodating projected student growth, addressing aging buildings and infrastructure, and reconfiguring learning spaces to support evolving instructional models. The presenter stated the district expects about 4,000 new students over the next 10 years—approximately 3,000 of whom are anticipated in the western portion of the district—and said buildings in the inventory range from roughly 3 to 77 years old.
The board’s update noted that the community engagement team will compile feedback and bring recommendations to the board on May 19. Staff described the online survey as one final opportunity for residents, families and staff to weigh in before the board receives the final recommendations.
At the meeting superintendent Dr. Martina Smith and staff thanked student advisory council members who spoke at the final workshop and encouraged broad participation in the survey. The presentation did not include final funding decisions; staff said funding options and next steps would be part of the May 19 report and recommendations.
