Commission approves code language changes, schedules hearings and approves license; minutes approved

The Daniel Planning Commission on April 15 recommended several procedural and code actions to the Town Council and scheduled upcoming hearings.
Commissioners voted to recommend amendments to Daniel municipal code sections 8.07.05, 8.07.06 and 8.07.07 to return language to prior wording; the changes were described as non-retroactive. Commissioner Heber Taylor moved to recommend the amendments and Commissioner T.J. McGeean seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The commission set a public hearing for May 20, 2026 to consider Geneva Rock's Conditional Use Permit application for a proposed concrete batch plant on parcel #22-2450; the commission also set a May 20 hearing for a zone-change request from RA-5 to Commercial for parcel #20-4532 (1680 W 3000 S). Both hearing-date motions passed unanimously.
Commissioners recommended approval of a new business license for Mark Moxy Home Service, LLC (dba Showhomes Summit) at 3300 S Hwy 40 after the owner provided required documentation but could not attend. The commission approved the March 18, 2026 minutes (Horner, Taylor, Jones yes; Skinner and McGeean abstained). Commissioners also received training materials on Conditional Use Permits and were briefed on two Town Council policies (Privacy Data and Conflict of Interest) introduced by Deputy Clerk/Recorder Merry Duggin.
