Brian Head council adopts Aspen Meadows Mountain Zone and updates maps

The Brian Head Town Council on April 28 unanimously approved a package of land-use changes to formalize a new Aspen Meadows Mountain Zone.
Planning & Building Administrator Greg Sant told the council the ordinance package converts the existing Aspen Meadows overlay into a standalone zone tailored to that area and updates both the General Plan land-use map and the Zone District map to reflect the change. He said the Planning Commission had reviewed the request and recommended approval. Sant noted a color artifact on an exhibit would be corrected in the professionally prepared final materials.
The change is intended to streamline future review by making the zone a distinct designation and relying on staff to ensure development complies with the existing development agreement, rather than requiring a rezoning decision by the Council for each proposal. Council Member Martin Tidwell moved adoption of Ordinance No. 26-004, with Council Member Duane Nyen seconding; the motion and follow-on ordinances updating the General Plan (26-005) and the Zone District map (26-006) each passed 5-0.
Council members did not request additional public hearing at the Council level. The ordinances as adopted update the town’s regulatory maps and clarify the review pathway for future development in the Aspen Meadows area. The council vote concludes the local adoption steps recorded on the April 28 agenda; administrative follow-through will include finalizing corrected map exhibits and publishing the signed ordinances.
