Roosevelt County approves DUI work plan, personnel changes and equipment purchases

Roosevelt County commissioners on May 19 approved a set of administrative items: the annual DUI task force work plan, a pay raise for the justice of the peace group, a GIS computer purchase and rehiring two mosquito-control employees.

AJ (speaker 9), who prepared the DUI task force work plan, told the board the plan is required by state law for the county to receive quarterly DUI reinstatement fees and listed approximately $24,000 in planned expenditures for courses, salaries, media, highway-safety conferences and two scholarships. Commissioners approved the plan by voice vote.

The board also approved an annual pay raise for the justice of the peace group (Samar Pronto), moving the position up one range to grade 8. A motion to approve the pay adjustment was seconded and passed by voice vote.

GIS requested a computer to aid an upcoming personnel transition; the purchase of a computer for $3,691.34 was approved. Commissioners discussed the upcoming retirement of a staff member and said the purchase would help the transition.

Finally, the board approved rehiring Randy Pouch and Heather Pouch for mosquito control at $25 per hour, noting the mosquito district was set by county resolution in 1969 and that the Mosquito Board (city council and mayor) will be involved in the district's management. The board said Ed Bach (public works director) will serve as the managing contact for mosquito operations.
