Weld County proclaims Police Officers Week, schedules Fallen Officers Memorial

The Weld County Board of County Commissioners on May 11 adopted a proclamation designating May 10–16, 2026, as Weld County Police Officers Week and May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day, noting that 111 U.S. law enforcement officers died in the line of duty in 2025 and that the county has lost 10 officers in similar circumstances. "A 111 is probably the lowest number that I've seen in all my years here," Captain Turner said, calling the figure nonetheless "111 too many."
