Marion County increases engineering contract with DOWL for North Fork slide stabilization

The Marion County Board of Commissioners on May 14 approved Amendment #4 to the engineering and related services contract with DOWL, LLC, adding $615,162.04 to provide construction engineering and inspection services for the North Fork Slide Stabilization project.
Ryan Crowther presented the scope, saying the work zone lies between milepost 4.9 and 5.5 on North Fork Road and will stabilize one of three active slide areas using a shear key buttress with excavation and large-rock buttress installation. Crowther said geotechnical analysis, design, environmental permitting and right-of-way actions are underway, and that construction work is estimated for summer 2026. He said outside utility companies will relocate facilities in summer 2025 and that the total project cost is estimated at $11,493,232 with an estimated federal share of $10,422,810 and county match of $1,070,422.
Commissioner Kevin Cameron moved approval; Commissioner Colm Willis seconded and a voice vote was unanimous.
