Stevens County allocates $44,751 in state housing aid, appoints Hancock representative to HRA

Jessica Kerwin, executive director of the Stevens County Housing and Redevelopment Authority, updated the board on recent grant work and local housing projects and requested allocation of 2026 state affordable housing aid.
Kerwin said Prairie Vista was not funded this round and staff are debriefing with funders and reapplying to the Federal Home Loan Bank and Minnesota Housing (deadlines noted in the packet). She gave a progress update on a rehabbed house and said staff will post applications for qualifying homebuyers once the property is complete.
The board approved an allocation of $44,751 in state affordable housing aid to the Stevens County HRA for single‑family home development. After the sale of rehabs, Kerwin said proceeds will return to local housing funds under the county’s reporting approach.
The board also appointed Mackenzie Roloff to fill the remainder of Bruce Malo’s term on the Stevens County Housing and Redevelopment Authority board, with the term ending 07/31/2027. The appointment was moved, seconded and approved by voice vote.
