Kane County adopts fire warden agreements as state moves to 2024 WUI code
The commission signed a County Fire Warden Agreement and a Cooperative Wildfire Suppression agreement after County Fire Warden Alexander Larsen outlined county impacts from HB41/HB48 and state adoption of the 2024 Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) code. The county will not be required to enforce the new code until Jan. 1, 2027.

County Fire Warden Alexander Larsen told the Kane County Commission on May 12 that Utah will adopt the 2024 edition of the International Wildland Urban Interface Code to replace the 2006 edition, and that local enforcement is not required until Jan. 1, 2027. The commission moved to adopt and sign intergovernmental agreements tied to wildfire response.
