County engineer reports road and bridge progress; pavement-marking upgrades planned

Bremer County engineering staff briefed supervisors on ongoing road, culvert and bridge work and on planned pavement-marking and safety upgrades for the coming season.
Engineering updates included patching work on C38 and T77 (with temporary closures while repairs occur), continued culvert work on the V21 project with remaining larger culverts to finish, and welding and panel installation on a northwest-county bridge that the contractor hopes to close in before crews move north. A separate bridge replacement in the northwest corner is tentatively scheduled for the fall, pending completion of current culvert and bridge projects.
Staff reported that pavement-marking bids were awarded and that the county increased the quantity of glass beads embedded in paint to improve reflectivity. Engineers noted a move toward 6-inch pavement markings on some routes to boost visibility and said rumble-strip (stop-warning) work is planned this summer for the county’s most in-need locations.
Supervisors and staff discussed scheduling and budget timing (some projects may start after the July 1 fiscal start), and staff said they will provide schedules and updates as projects proceed.
No formal board action was required beyond receiving the update; supervisors thanked staff for the progress report.
