Max tornado siren deemed unusable; county seeks grant for replacement; sheriff reports 38 calls in April

Brophy Electric found the Max tornado siren unusable and recommended removal pending replacement; estimated replacement cost is $10,000–$25,000 and Region 51 will pursue grant funding. County Attorney Arlan Wine told Dundy County commissioners on May 18 that Brophy Electric inspected the Max tornado siren and found it unusable. Wine said the estimated cost to replace the siren is between $10,000 and $25,000; Brandon Meyers with Region 51 Emergency Management is pursuing a grant to cover replacement costs. The siren must be functioning or removed; Wine said the damaged unit will be removed until a replacement is funded.
