The Boxborough Select Board voted unanimously May 11 to appoint Channing Wagg to the town’s Housing Board for a term expiring June 30, 2027. Wagg, who said he has lived in Boxborough for 55 years and previously served on the Housing Board, told the board he has produced analyses of local residents’ financial needs and urged prioritizing affordable housing options.
“Either of both documents are certainly available to you if you wish,” Wagg said, adding that “there is a considerable cohort of people in town who are not well off financially,” and that affordable housing is needed to address food and medicine insecurity.
Board members asked about Wagg’s one‑year appointment request and his interest in Stow Road specifically; Wagg said he expects to contribute substantive clarification and initial direction within a year but did not commit to leading a multi‑year push. Board members and members of the Housing Board discussed options being considered for Stow Road — selling the parcel to fund housing, building on the site, or combinations of approaches — and said the Housing Board would recommend options to the Select Board and the town at large.
Chair moved to appoint Wagg; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote, recorded as unanimous.
