Robertson County commission approves solid-waste fee increases and multiple budget amendments

The Robertson County Commission approved a package of fee changes and budget amendments at its May 18 meeting in Springfield.
The commission adopted Resolution No. 051826048 to raise disposal fees at the Robertson County Solid Waste Department. Under the change, in-county waste disposal increases from $60.00 per ton to $85.00 per ton; out-of-county waste from $75.00 to $100.00 per ton; brush fees from $40.00 to $50.00; and tire fees from $135.00 to $150.00. The motion, made by Commissioner Wilson and seconded by Commissioner Hart, was approved by the commission with the required majority.
Commissioners also approved several budget amendments and related resolutions. Resolution No. 051826043 would amend the general fund for miscellaneous EMS expenses (motion by Couts; second by Martin); Res. 051826044 would amend the general fund to fund jury-selection software for the Circuit Court Clerk (motion by Couts; second by White); and Res. 051826046 would amend the School Fund for various expenses (motion by Couts; second by Martin). Each measure was approved by the commission with the required majority.
The commission approved Resolution No. 051826045 to provide pay increases for Animal Control staff. The body voted to suspend the rules to proceed with the resolution on second reading (motion by Couts; second by Martin), and then approved the measure on second reading (motion by Couts; second by Head-Hieber). The resolution was recorded as approved by the commission with the required majority.
The board approved Resolution No. 051826047 to extend retirement coverage in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System to remaining uncovered departments and instrumentalities (motion by Couts; second by Hogan). The commission declared certain Board of Education transportation equipment surplus via Res. 051826049 (motion by Martin; second by Head-Hieber), and appointed members to the Equalization Board and reappointed Renee Wray-Davis to the Library Board. All items were approved by the commission with the required votes, according to the minutes.
Most measures were handled with motions and voice votes and without extended debate; the meeting minutes note the votes as passing with the required majority rather than listing individual member tallies.
The commission noted that reports from county departments (Highway, Trustee, Animal Control, Planning, Solid Waste, Emergency Management, Fire, EMS, Veterans Service, Finance) were on file with the clerk.
