Chief Michael Furs read the Fayette County letter, which described Captain Schultz stopping to assist Fayette County personnel who were stabilizing a disoriented, combative patient. The letter said Schultz offered immediate assistance that reduced the risk of injury and offered to accompany the crew to the hospital if needed.
Captain John Schultz thanked the court and reflected on his service: “We don’t get to pick who we serve or who we help,” he said. The court unanimously moved to accept the letter and recognized Schultz’s years of service.
