Police Chief Keith Grant told the council the department has increased enforcement activity and several recent drug arrests and described limits in current vehicles for processing crime scenes. He said the department has one detective, Cody Carpenter, who uses an SUV but that an additional, purpose-equipped used vehicle would allow on-scene command and evidence processing without returning repeatedly to the station.
