The Enid Public Schools board voted on April 20 to approve submitting a conversion school plan to the Oklahoma State Department of Education that would create a distinct site code (Lincoln) for the district's virtual secondary program.
Dr. Darrow and administrators described the plan, noting that once approved the district would start the new site code for secondary students in fall 2026 and that virtual students would not be eligible for extracurricular participation under the conversion rules. Administration said the virtual program could expand to elementary in later years but the immediate rollout focuses on middle and high school.
Board member Tory Turnbow moved to approve the application; the board then recorded individual votes. The board approved the submission by recorded voice votes (members recorded "Yes"), and Dr. Darrow said the district will apply to the state and provide updates as the process moves forward.
The approval launches a state review process; if the Oklahoma State Department of Education approves the application, the district will proceed with accreditation, site coding and operational steps for the conversion beginning with secondary students.
