MCO reports higher flows after heavy rain; H2S readings low and Bioxide stations functioning

MCO Midwest Contract Operations provided the Simonton Lake Conservancy District an operations report for August 2024 showing higher treatment volumes after heavy-rain events, normal H2S monitoring within the month and functioning Bioxide dosing stations.
Steve (Steven) Grubb told the board there were no alarm calls from the district's Omni-Site system during the month. He reported the H2S data logger recorded 43,049 readings in August, with a monthly average of 0.0127 parts per million, a minimum of 0 ppm and a maximum of 0.8 ppm; Grubb said he performed the monthly calibration check and found the instrument working properly.
The report lists Bioxide station operation as normal. The minutes record a Bioxide pumping-rate average of 11.33 GPD and tank levels on Aug. 30 of about 775 gallons at the South (CR109) station and about 770 gallons at the North (Northshore) station; MCO received a biocide delivery on Aug. 28.
Lift-station totals listed in the monthly summary show an August total flow of 1,831,450 gallons (average 61,048 gallons per day) compared with July's 2,358,180 gallons (average 71,460 gallons per day). The technician log in the minutes lists a total of 43.0 labor hours and 600 miles for the month, and individual pump run hours are included in the record.
The board was told on Aug. 6 that MCO presented televised sewer-line findings to the City of Elkhart Board of Works as part of a consent-order compliance effort; the Pretreatment Department recommended the district be released from that Consent Order and indicated the district was now in compliance, according to the minutes.
The minutes present the technical data as recorded; some unit notations (for example the Bioxide rate listed as "11.33 GPD") are reported as in the MCO submission and were not clarified in the minutes.
