The Delano City Council authorized a rate increase for Stantec Engineering after councilmember Jason Franzen asked whether the proposed rates were comparable to competitors. City Engineer Shawn Louwagie replied that Stantec’s rates are consistent with what the firm offers to other municipal clients, that Stantec offers discounted municipal rates relative to standard market billing, and that the firm’s rate increases over the past four years have ranged from about 3.5% to 5%.
Jason Franzen initiated the inquiry; following the explanation from Louwagie, the council approved the rate increase by motion (moved by Jason Franzen; seconded by Todd Belz). The minutes record the motion carried but do not include a roll‑call tally for that particular motion.
