EMS asks county for help to fund merit raises and support new fire program

Camp said the county and city have worked to raise EMS pay because the service was competing with fast-food employers for EMTs. She asked the county to help fund a 1.5% merit increase and noted pass-through increases tied to the countys new fire program: certain jurisdictions (Emberville and Limestone) will see allocations increase from $80,000 to $90,000 under the current proposal. "We at one point was competing with fast food restaurants to keep um good EMTs," Camp said while urging support to retain trained staff.
Commissioners reviewed the appropriation spreadsheet and asked whether there were further questions; no immediate vote occurred on the EMS request and staff indicated the item would move through the budget committee process.
